Why Dr. Karanastasis Chose Concierge Medicine
After many years of practicing traditional insurance-based medicine, Dr. Karanastasis began to feel that the system was moving away from the kind of care patients truly need.
In traditional primary care, patients often wait weeks for appointments, spend time on hold, sit in waiting rooms, and then only receive a short visit with their doctor. For patients with multiple medical conditions, 10 to 15 minutes is often not enough time to truly listen, examine, explain, and plan.
That is why Dr. Karanastasis chose to build IASIS Boutique Health around a concierge medicine model.
Concierge medicine allows for a smaller patient panel, more time with each patient, better communication, and a stronger doctor-patient relationship. This model gives Dr. Karanastasis the ability to practice medicine with the attention and quality he believes patients deserve.

Letter from the Doctor
“As we all know, healthcare system changed”
"As we all know, the healthcare system has changed.
It has become an oversaturated system that often leads to long waits, frustrated patients, and burned-out doctors. Medicare and other insurance systems can dictate how to practice medicine and how to run a medical office. The insurance-based healthcare system places pressure on both doctors and patients.
In many traditional practices, doctors may only have 10 to 15 minutes to listen to and examine a patient. Sometimes a doctor has to see four patients in one hour, or even more. Many patients have multiple medical problems that cannot be properly addressed in such a short visit.
After many years of practicing traditional medicine, also known as third-party payer or insurance-based medicine, I decided that I no longer wanted to support a model where the quality of care can suffer.
How many times have you waited on the phone to speak with the front desk? How many times have you waited weeks or even a month to see your doctor? And after finally arriving at the office, how many times have you waited another 30 minutes to an hour just to be seen for a short visit?
I thought long and carefully before making this decision. I believe the concierge model, in the form of direct primary care, is the best way for me to practice medicine without compromising the quality of care I want to offer my patients.
In this model, I can care for a smaller patient panel. This gives me the opportunity to build strong patient-doctor relationships and provide higher-quality, more personalized care.
I strongly believe in the direct primary healthcare model. I understand that concierge medicine is not for everyone, but insurance-based medicine is not for everyone either.
I am very excited for the next chapter in my career, and I look forward to being your doctor and your family friend for the rest of your life.
Do not choose me only because you will have better access to care. Choose me because you trust me.”
